Our project team’s mission is built upon a framework known as Socially Engaged Design, where the feedback of the community is integrated within the physical design of our product, catered precisely to community needs.

We are composed of a diverse group of students with interests ranging from biomedical and mechanical engineering to business, entrepreneurship, and public health.
Dedication to Change
MESA was founded in 2010 and has come under the branch of University of Michigan M-HEAL (Michigan Health Engineered for All Lives). We worked through 8 design iterations before arriving to our latest prototype, Zeta. Our team is passionate about making cervical cancer screenings and other preventable women’s health exams more accessible to rural communities.
